Barbara Rasmussen Lowe (Grandmother) has been making music since she was six. By the age of 8, she was playing for solos and small groups near her childhood home in LaPoint, Utah. Those early beginnings set the pace for a life of love and service through music. Over the years she has accompanied for university, church, and community events. In fact, at age 84, she occasionally plays for the local Senior Citizen's dances! With a music degree from Brigham Young University in 1944, Barbara began teaching piano and chorus at Dixie Junior College in St. George, Utah, and later at Star Valley High School in Wyoming, and Roosevelt High School in Utah. While teaching piano at BYU, she co-authored the book, Piano Study Guide and Workbook, with Dr. William M. Foxley. In 1999, she released her first album, "Simply Barbara" on which she recorded 41 of her favorite old-time melodies. Barbara and her husband, the late Richard Holling Lowe, have seven sons, forty-one grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. |
